Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fishery Salem al-Soqatri conferred today, Saturday, in Berlin, the Director of the Global Program for Agriculture and Food Security (GAFSP) Natasha Heyward over aspects of cooperation between the Ministry and the program.
The conversations took place on the sidelines of the deliberations of the International Forum for Food and Agriculture, held in Berlin.
Al-Soqatri highly praised the GAFSP's significant efforts to support Yemen, particularly the project to improve rural livelihoods.
He also to cited the challenges Yemen has been facing in the areas of food security due to the protracted war triggered by the Iranian regime backed Houthi terrorist militias' coup.
The Director of the GAFSP explained the importance of the project aimed to improve the rural livelihoods, which is being in the governorates of Hodeidah, Dhamar, al-Dale'a, Taiz and Lahj.
She noted that in the next month of May a new mechanism will be applied aimed to direct the support to the beneficiaries through their organizations or associations and support for the investors in the food security domain and improving the rural livelihoods.
The Minister also discussed with the Head of the Department of Crisis Management and Transitional Developmental Aids amid Crises at the German Ministry of Economic and Development Cooperation Katrina Speaz the cooperation between the two countries to handle the crisis of food and food security.
Al-Soqatri greatly valued Germany's substantial support for the Yemeni people, mainly in the two sectors of agriculture and fishery.
