His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

RIYADH - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Abdulrahman al-Muharrami discussed Monday with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin the latest developments in our country, regional developments, and several issues of mutual interest.

The meeting addressed a range of economic and service challenges facing the Yemeni people due to ongoing Houthi threats against vital facilities in our country, as well as the militia's continued targeting of international shipping routes, which has catastrophic implications for our country and the region as a whole.

In this context, al-Muharrami urged the international community and the U.S. Administration to take more deterrent measures against the Houthi terrorist militias and to work towards ending their criminal practices.

Al-Muharrami also briefed the U.S. ambassador on local developments, including the economic and administrative reforms led by the council and the government, emphasizing the importance of international support for these efforts to implement further reforms, combat corruption, enhance state institution building, and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

For his part, the U.S. ambassador reiterated his country's support for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Yemen, confirming the continued support of the United States for Yemen in various fields, particularly in addressing humanitarian and economic challenges.
