President al-Alimi receives U.S. Envoy to Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) along with the Member of the PLC Othman Mujalli received today, Monday, the United States' Envoy Timothy Lenderking and American Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.

The conversations covered a range of topical issues, including Yemeni-American bilateral relations and ways to further boost them in various domains, the needed American support to bailout the Yemeni economy, improve the living conditions and to mitigate the humanitarian repercussions of the Houthis' terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.

The American envoy briefed President al-Alimi on likely regional and international changes in view of the outcomes of the American elections and his recent contacts to de-escalate the tension, the proposed options to push the terrorist Houthi militias to earnestly deal with the good offices to launch an inclusive political process guided by the UN.

In this context, the Chairman of the PLC retreated the commitment of the PLC and the government to the comprehensive and fair peace approach per the peace references which are nationally, regionally and internationally agreed on, namely the UNSC's resolution 2216.

President al-Alimi voiced his gratitude and appreciation to the US administration for its support for the Yemeni people and its legitimate leadership as well as its significant humanitarian and developmental interventions in different areas.

He also stressed that it is very important to double down the international efforts to carry out the resolution of the International Security Council about the embargo of the Iranian weapons export to the terrorist Houthi militias.
