ADEN - SABA
Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak held a meeting on Monday with the Military and Security Committee, chaired by Major General Haitham Qasem Taher.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister listened to a report from the committee's chairman and members about what the military and security committee has accomplished since its formation under the power transfer declaration.
The focus was on achieving security and stability, restructuring the armed forces and security under a unified national leadership within the framework of the rule of law, as well as the main matrix prepared by the committee and the required support for its implementation, in addition to future plans.
The meeting discussed several proposals for implementing procedural aspects of financial and administrative reforms within the military and security institutions, as well as a development plan to improve the performance and infrastructure of the armed forces and security, enhancing their efficiency to defeat the Houthi militias and the terrorist organizations associated with them, and completing the restoration of the state.
The meeting agreed to form a joint executive team between the government and the military and security committee to implement several measures included in the committee's main matrix, including the application of a biometric system for members of the military and security institutions and aspects of financial and administrative reforms.
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister emphasized the political leadership's and government's reliance on their work and their vital role in unifying operational decisions and developing military and security institutions.
He confirmed that several directives had been issued to the relevant ministries to implement a number of recommendations presented by the committee, as well as the importance of developing strategic plans to enhance the performance of the armed forces and security, military manufacturing aspects, and strengthening resilience factors.
Bin Mubarak provided the committee members with a comprehensive overview of the political and economic situation, existing challenges, and the government's priorities in financial and administrative reforms, enhancing transparency and accountability, and combating corruption.
He outlined the ongoing efforts to overcome difficulties and the expected role of the armed forces and security in supporting these measures, affirming the government's support for the work of the military and security committee and its commitment to partner fully in implementing financial and administrative reforms in these institutions to ensure efficient spending and achieve transparency.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the unwavering objective uniting the republican ranks is the defeat of the backward Houthi agenda, whether through peaceful means or warfare, in this existential battle.
The Yemeni people will not accept a return to an era of enslavement and tyranny, he said. He extended greetings to heroes, who defend the homeland on all fronts against the Houthi terrorist militias with unwavering determination.
Prime Minister bin Mubarak also expressed his condolences to the souls of the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the dignity and honor of the nation and paid tribute to the wounded, emphasizing the government's commitment to their care and the families of the martyrs.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment, as a top priority, to support the efforts of the military and security institutions and provide their essential requirements, securing their needs for equipment and improving the conditions of their personnel to fulfill their national role during this exceptional phase.
He noted that government spending on military and security institutions has increased this year compared to last year, reflecting the importance of their role and ongoing efforts to implement financial and administrative reforms as a strategic objective to uplift these national institutions and improve the conditions of their personnel.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there can be no reforms or development without an active role and participation from the armed forces and security. He noted that without genuine reforms in financial and administrative aspects, transparency, and combating corruption, nothing can be reformed.
This is a strategic goal that the government is working on to address shortcomings and deficiencies in the management of state institutions, he confirmed.
For his part, Chairman of the Military and Security Committee welcomed the Prime Minister, expressing the committee's appreciation for his support and the partnership that could be established to implement reforms in the armed forces and security.
He reviewed what the committee has accomplished, the matrix it has prepared, the execution plans, the challenges it faces, and the cooperation needed from the government.
