His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

His Excellency President Dr. Rahsad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)—Commander-in-Chief—convened today, Sunday, an emergency meeting of the High Security Committee (HSC).

The meeting comes within the PLC's efforts to bolster security, stability and to sustain the efforts of the government and the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) to manage the economic, financial and services challenges.

The meeting included Minister of Defense (Lt Gen) Mohsen al-Daeri, the Chair of the SHC, Minister of Interior Ibrahim Haidan, Chief of the National Security Organization Maj. General Ahmed al-Massa'bi, Head of the Military Intelligence Authority Maj. General Ahmed al-Yafeaee, Deputy of Political Security Organization Maj.

General Anwar al-Yami, Minister of State, Aden Governor Ahmed Lamlas, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CBY Dr. Ahmed BaNaga and Director of Aden Police Maj. General Mutahar al-Shua'ibi.

The meeting discussed a number of topical issues relating to the security and military situations, the ongoing efforts to boost security and stability in the transitional capital and the government-held governorates and counter the terrorist Houthi militias' schemes and other terrorist organizations.

The Ministers of Defense, Interior and the Chiefs of the concerned security bodies provided reports about the topics enlisted in the meeting agenda and the measures that have been taken to deal with.

The meeting highlighted the significant role of the HSC in sustaining the efforts of the CBY and enabling it to administer the monetary policy and carry out the bank's measures aiming to protect the national currency, control exchange market businesses, deter speculators and black market traders.

The Chairman of the PLC, Commander-in-Chief applauded the progress realized by the armed and security forces in fighting terrorism, smuggling and organized crime, commending their remarkable success in strengthening security and stability in the temporary capital and the governor-controlled governorates.

President al-Alimi stressed that it is very important for the HSC to improve the security and military decision making process, swift response to security challenges, deter the terrorist plots, controlling smuggling of weapons, moneys and drugs.
