Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhyab discussed on Monday with Vito Intini, the chief economic expert at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and other economic experts and consultants, the procedural steps to set the general framework for the economic plan for the coming years.
Dr. Basuhayb listened to the international team's feedback on the results of the meetings held with the relevant parties regarding the preparation of plans in all sectors and the mechanism followed for them.
It was agreed to hold a preparatory workshop to build the capacity of those concerned on how to prepare the plan, the methodology followed, and the required information in a comprehensive economic context.
The Deputy Minister of Planning emphasized the need to give the highest priority in the national plan to all sectors and parties related to the economic aspect, and that the plan should proceed with implementation after completing the specific procedures for its general framework, which includes preparing strategies, collecting and analyzing data and information, while benefiting from what has been previously done in this regard.
He appreciated the cooperative relationship with the United Nations Development Program and its contribution to the implementation of projects, capacity building, and the provision of institutional and development support.
In another meeting, Dr. Nizar Basuhayb discussed with Kristel Jurlko, the UNICEF specialist for persons with special needs, a number of issues related to meeting the urgent humanitarian needs of programs and projects for children with disabilities, autism patients, orphans, and juveniles.
The meeting stressed the need to create effective communication channels with specialized associations for the care and rehabilitation of these groups to contribute to the provision of necessary services and assistance to them according to the priorities, in order to give this group its right to care and attention.
