Minister al-Zaouri calls upon Intl. organizations to support government implement aged plan

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Mohammed al-Zaouri has emphasized the role of the government in supporting the issues of the elderly, and its ratification of the National Strategy for the Care of the Elderly by Resolution No. (1) of 2022, which was prepared by the Ministry.

In the opening of the workshop organized by the Ministry today in the temporary capital Aden, in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the Minister al-Zaouri called on international organizations to support the government's efforts to finance the National Strategy for the Care of the Elderly, stressing the need to coordinate efforts to implement all policies and programs.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Human Resources and Finance Affairs Major General Qaid Atef called for the need to pay attention to the elderly and enhance community awareness to care for them and address the violations they are exposed to.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Civil Service and Insurance Ministry Dr. Haitham Jawwas highlighted the importance of benefiting from the experiences of countries that have provided privileges and integration for the elderly, calling for attention to this segment within the efforts made by the leaderships of the Ministries of Social Affairs and Civil Service.

For her part, the Population Policy Officer at ESCWA Dr. Sara Salman emphasized the role of decision-makers in the Arab region in enhancing community awareness towards issues of the aged and achieving better care and protection for the elderly and spreading awareness of strengthening relations between individuals and family communities.
