Musawah Organization for Rights and Freedoms has revealed the documentation of the deaths of 14 civilians from Dhamar Governorate who were tortured to death in the prisons of the terrorist Houthi militias.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the organization stated that it received a report from the family of detainee Khaled Hussein Ghazi (43 years old) from Al-Hatib village in Dhawran District confirming the death of their son under torture in the provisional prison in Dhamar Province.
The family of detainee Ghazi received calls yesterday from Houthi leaders in the province informing them of their son's death in prison and inviting them to receive his body, which showed clear signs of torture and had stab wounds on his neck.
The organization explained that detainee Khaled Ghazi is the fourteenth victim from Dhamar whose cases of death as a result of torture in Houthi prisons have been documented by the organization over the past years. It noted that its monitors had previously documented the deaths of 13 other similar cases from several districts in Dhamar.
The organization expressed its strong condemnation of the ongoing torture crimes committed by the Houthi militias against civilian detainees and abductees.
It called on the United Nations, the United Nations Security Council, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and all local and international human rights organizations to take serious, responsible, and urgent action to pressure the Houthi militias to stop the torture crimes in their prisons and to hold all those involved in these crimes accountable for their actions in recent years.
