Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak stated that the government has been very keen to achieve financial inclusion, promote banks' and economic institutions' role in speeding the development drive and improving individual and family prosperity and establishing development and stability.
His statement came in his speech that Finance Minister Salim bin Braik delivered on his behalf today, Monday, in a function held in the temporary capital Aden to launch the events of the World Finance Week in Yemen 2024.
Ministers of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Badhib, Transport Dr. Abdel Salam Humayd Industry and Commerce Mohammad al-Ashwal, Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries Salem al-Soqatri and Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Ahmed al-Mabaqi and representatives of 30 banks and banking sector attended the gathering.
Dr. bin Mubarak applauded the CBY's actions and progress to recover and activate crucial programs in the transitional capital Aden and to promote communication and exchange experiences and visions between the CBY and financial institutions, international initiatives and activities.
The Prime Minister highlighted the progress and achievements realized "Today, we have 11 banks specializing in small and microfinance businesses, doors opened to small capital and services made available in all regions to facilitate peoples' interaction with banks and achieve the principles of financial inclusion."
Bin Mubarak added "The CBY also has launched electronic money service via mobile phone in partnership with telecommunications companies. It is in its early stages, but it is an essential and necessary service that expands the benefit of banking services".
