PM orders senior Tax officials be subjected to investigation

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak has ordered that senior officials at the Tax Authority be referred for investigation in connection with job-related negligence, absenteeism from work, and refrainment from doing assigned tasks.

The premier made clear that as the investigations are wrapped up, some senior Tax employees will have to be suspended from job.

The premier took the decision upon a field visit Sunday to the Tax Authority premises where surveyed the day-to-day operation of the Authority and noticed absence of officials from offices, and therefore called for accountability.
