His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) underlined the announcement of the establishment of the Multinational Naval Defense Alliance led by Saudi Arabia, describing this move as a strategic initiative and a very important step to boost collective security, protect international navigation and secure vital sea routes in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Yemeni-American discussions over controlling smuggling

General Inspector of Ministry of Interior Maj. General Fayez Ghallab held discussions today, Monday, with the Regional Assistant Special Agent in charge of the Drug Control Administration in the Middle East and the Drug Control Administration Attaché for the Arabian Peninsula over bilateral security collaboration between the two countries.

The conversations also touched upon Yemeni-American joint efforts to combat drugs and control smuggling.

Topics relating to US support for Yemen in the area of training and capacity building of the were key focus of the discussions.

Assistant Undersecretary for the Human and Financial Resources Sector, Maj. General Abdul-Nasser Sabera highlighted the need of the General Administration for Drug Control and its branches in the governorates for American technical and logistical assistance so as to be capable to do its job effectively .

The American officials valued the significant efforts made by the Yemeni security services to combat drugs and control smuggling.
