Yemen's Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Saghir bin Aziz, met today with the Chief of Staff of the US Army, Gen. Randy George.

During the meeting, which came on the sidelines of the annual arms exhibition organized by the US Army, Yemen's Chief of Staff expressed appreciation for the United States’ positions in support of Yemen, its leadership and its armed forces... praising the roles played by the US Navy in efforts to combat terrorism in Yemen and prevent the arrival of weapons and drugs carried out by Iran smuggles it to its Houthi militias in Yemen.

He expressed his aspiration to develop military cooperation and coordination between the two countries, and to resume the program of support and assistance that the United States was providing to the Yemeni armed forces, which are fighting the battle to restore the state and confront the Houthi coup militias and the Iranian project that threatens the security and stability of the region.

The Chief of Staff also expressed his appreciation for what the United States is doing in terms of training and qualifying members of the Yemeni armed forces, and raising their capabilities technically, to help them be an effective partner in efforts to combat terrorism and smuggling and maintain stability and security in Yemen and the region.

The Chief of the General Staff and his accompanying delegation toured the pavilions of the exhibition in which weapons companies from all over the world participated, and saw what could be used to equip and develop the Yemeni army.
