ADEN-SABA
Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq Asharjabi has renewed the Yemeni government's full support for the UN's ongoing efforts to handle the problem of Safer Oil Tanker.

He promised every necessary support to carry out the UN-coordinated plan successfully to avert the disastrous environmental threat of the oil tanker.

His comments came during his conversations today, Sunday, via the video conference with the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen David Gressly.

Mr. Gressly detailed Asharjabi about the assessment of the technical teams of the outcomes of the implementation of the first phase of the Emergency Rescue Plan to transfer the oil crude from the old tanker to the alternative ship.

Gressly also cited the proposed plans to start the second phase and ongoing efforts to coordinate and mobilize the international finances to carry out the plans.

The discussions touched upon several topics relating to the environmental situation in light of the successful implementation of the first phase of the UN's Plan to deal with Safer Oil Tanker's risk in which more than one million and 100 thousand barrels of oil crude were moved to the alternative ship.
