World Bank establishes coordinator office in the interim capital Aden

The World Bank (WB) has inaugurated its coordinating bureau in Yemen in the temporary capital Aden within the joint efforts of the WB and the Yemeni government to manage the challenges the country has been facing at this critical stage and to help improve the economic recovery and development.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'id Badhib along with Deputy Minister Dr. Nezar BaSoheib met today, Tuesday, with the national coordinator of the WB Samra Shaibani who has already commenced her mission as a representative of the WB.

Drs. Badhib and BaSoheib welcomed the establishment of the WB's coordinating office in Aden, describing it as vitally important for the WB to exercise its direct missions through a coordinating bureau in Aden.

" It is the first step on the ground since 2015 toward re-opening the WB's headquarters in the temporary capital Aden, the move will help to provide the government with direct support to sustain its efforts to achieve the economic recovery and reconstruction", said Badhib.
